The Araucana Chicken is a sacred and essential bird for our culture. Beyond being a provider of food, it is a central figure in the ceremonies of our Williche people, representing fertility and the connection to the land. Its presence in the home is a symbol of protection and the ability to provide for the family and the community. It is, in essence, the spirit that sustains daily life and ritual.

At Kalkona, we recreate this bird with deep respect for its cultural significance. Its robust body is carved from poplar wood and covered with fabrics that evoke the warmth of a nest. Every detail, from its bearing to the chosen colors, seeks to convey that sense of stability and rootedness that the Araucana Hen represents in our southern fields.

Technique: Hand-carved wood, recycled iron sculpture, and hand-knitted with 2 needles (garter stitch). Finished with water-based acrylic paint and oak-colored sealant. Materials: Poplar wood, iron structure, selected wool, and synthetic cotton. Dimensions: Height 25.5 cm, width 10 cm, length 16 cm. Approximate weight: 270 g. Crafting time: 1 day of artisanal trade by Kalkona.
